Clever climate comfort
All over the world, we work in our role as development partner to almost all vehicle manufacturers to devise individual air conditioning concepts for all types of buses, from city buses to five-star luxury coaches. We know how to link complex systems and ideally combine components. That is how we guarantee supreme climate comfort, while achieving maximum efficiency to reduce carbon emissions – regardless of the weather conditions, the size of the vehicle, the type of power train or whether the vehicle is used for local or long-distance journeys.

Tailored solutions for electric buses
The shift toward low-carbon mobility and the associated rapidly growing market share enjoyed by electric buses has a significant impact on vehicle development and power train-related systems, including heating and air conditioning systems. Spheros has dedicated itself to such matters and is a leader in thermal technologies that cut carbon emissions.
We have developed “Entelligence” – the world’s best solution for modern climate control in electric buses. It is based on innovative air conditioning components and smart control software that will always control the components with the highest degree of efficiency. Communication with Spheros Entelligence takes place via the Body Interface components, with an intelligent remote station forming the central unit.
In summary, Spheros Entelligence is a byword for innovative HVAC solutions that help to make the best possible use of existing energy resources, thereby also significantly increasing the range of electric buses.

Cooling and heating with natural refrigerants
Air conditioning systems use easily evaporable liquids, known as refrigerants. Many of these refrigerants are harmful to the climate, which is classified using the GWP value (Global Warming Potential). The higher the GWP value, the more harmful the refrigerant is to the climate.
Our highly energy-efficient rooftop air conditioning system REVO®-E HP R744 uses the refrigerant CO2 (R744) with a GWP of 1, which minimizes the greenhouse potential. Hermetically sealed system piping also minimizes refrigerant leaks.
Spheros heaters with alternative fuels
Every combustion produces CO2, harmful exhaust gas components and soot particles. Thanks to intensive research, Spheros' diesel-powered heaters fall below the emission values of the EURO 6 emissions standard in stationary operation. The gas-powered heaters are soot-free and emit less CO2, CO and NOx.
We are also researching the use of alternative fuels from non-fossil energy sources such as HVO, GtL, BtL and e-fuels. Our heaters are already approved for some of these fuels and can be operated in a climate-neutral manner.
Holistic and intelligent thermal management
Intelligence and thermal management are crucially important in the control of all components for optimum bus climate. Intelligent software is a fundamental requirement for the efficient, error-free management of component hardware. In climate control of the future, a large number of extremely complex components and operating states of the vehicle will be read out and applied. For us, this demanding type of thermal management is the central task of modern bus air conditioning, today and in the future.
We call this holistic approach of clean and efficient air conditioning of hybrid and electrobuses „Entelligence“.
